MAYOR DADAH DONATES FULL YAKAN ENSEMBLE TO PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN MALAYSIA

The vibrant culture of Basilan is gaining international recognition as Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman donated a complete Yakan ensemble to the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, further promoting the rich heritage of the Yakan people on the global stage.
The donation, which includes traditional Yakan attire for both men and women, will be displayed and utilized by the Embassy as part of its cultural diplomacy initiatives, showcasing the artistry, craftsmanship, and unique identity of the Filipino people in Malaysia.
In recognition of this meaningful contribution, Mayor Dadah has been invited to attend the official turnover ceremony of the Yakan ensemble on June 15 and the Diplomatic Reception celebrating the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence on June 16 in Kuala Lumpur.
