In solidarity with the global observance of the World Day Against Child Labor 2026, the City Mobile Library proudly participated in the celebration spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held at the Basilan National High School Auditorium, June 12.
Under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, the City Government of Isabela once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights, welfare, and future of every child. This meaningful activity brought together various partner agencies and stakeholders, including the City Information Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Department of Information and Communications Technology, NFI, Public Employment Service Office, City Health Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government, as well as TUPAD beneficiaries, all united in advocating for a community free from child labor.
Representing the City Information Office led by CIO Mendry-Ann Lim, Mobile Library Focal Person Jham-Jham Kalbi delivered a heartfelt message of support, reminding everyone that:
“Ang tanging dapat gawin ng kabataan ay mag-aral, mangarap, at maglaro. Tayong mga magulang at nakatatanda ang may obligasyong magtrabaho, gumabay, at sumuporta upang mabigyan sila ng ligtas at maayos na kinabukasan.”
The HAPIsabela Mobile Library also conducted an engaging reading session for the participants, featuring the story of “Isa at Bela,” which highlighted the importance of proper waste segregation and responsible disposal of garbage. Through storytelling, children were encouraged not only to develop a love for reading but also to become responsible members of the community who care for the environment.
In this year’s World Day Against Child Labor, the City Government continues to ensure that every Isabeleño child enjoys their right to education, protection, and a happy childhood. (Words by J. Kalbi, CIO/Photos by A. Puti, IsaTV)
