COFFEE GROWERS GROUP PLAN FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF PLANTING COFFEE SEEDLINGS

Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman convened on June 14 the Isabela City Coffee Growers Association (ICCGA), headed by President Lee Roy Brown. The gathering was centered around detailed updates regarding the current inventory of coffee seedlings available for planting across various nursery sites in Isabela City. As of June 6, Agricultural Technologist Jonathan Pedillon reported a total of 5,199 coffee seedlings ready for distribution: 2,500 in Maligue, 1,399 in Tabiawan, and 1,300 in Sitio Lantung in Baluno. Among the key topics discussed were the ongoing assessments of coffee plant conditions in different areas, particularly in light of the recent prolonged dry spell that had adversely affected cultivation. Additionally, the meeting facilitated an inventory update of existing coffee growers and identified potential new participants interested in joining the coffee cultivation efforts. Present at the meeting were stakeholders including ICCGA Vice President Victor Moore Ututalum, Secretary Eugene Strong, Treasurer Merha Hadji Uddin, Board Members Richard Silbol and Engr. IKA-126 ARAW NG KALAYAAN, IPINAGDIWANG NG LUNGSOD NG ISABELA

Pinangunahan ni Bise-Alkalde Jhul Kifli Salliman ang maluwalhating pagdiriwang ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Isabela sa ika-126 Taon ng Kalayaan at Pagkabansang Pilipino noong Hunyo 12, sa Liwasang Rizal. Nagsimula ang palatuntunan sa pagbibigay-pugay sa watawat ng Pilipinas kasunod ng pag-awit ng Lupang Hinirang. Sinundan naman ito ng panalangin at ang pagtugtog ng ‘Dear Isabela’. Si Faye Barandino mula CHRMO naman ang namuno sa pagbigkas ng Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas. Kasunod ng mga panimula ay ang pag-aalay ng mga bulaklak sa monumento ni Gat Jose Rizal na pinangunahan ni Bise-Alkalde Salliman kaagapay si BGEN Alvin Luzon, PA, 101st Infantry Brigade Commander. Kasama sa nakiisa sa nasabing programa ay mga kasapi ng Sangguniang Panlungsod na sina konsehal Yusop Abubakar, Ar-Jhemar Ajibon, Khaleedsher Asarul, Jeromy Casas, Bimbo Epping, Candu Muarip, Abner Rodriguez at IPMR Mary May Julhari. Kasama rin ang ilang mga punong barangay, mga tagapangulo, kawaksi, at mga kawani mula sa iba’t ibang kagawaran at sangay ng Pamahalaang Lokal. Kasama rin ang ilang kinatawan mula sa mga ahensya ng pambansang pamahalaan at mga miyembro ng mga organisasyong pangsibiko. Buo rin ang suporta ng mga opisyal at tauhan. ng Hukbong Katihan ng Pilipinas na sina 4th Special Forces Battalion Commander LTC Adolf Ian Garceron, PA, at 19th Special Forces Company, 4th SF BN Company Commander CPT Marvin Jacinto, PA. Naroon din si PLTCOL Parson Asadil na hepe ng Himpilan ng Pulis sa Lungsod at ang kaniyang mga tauhan, mga opisyal ng Himpilan ng Tanod-Baybayin ng Isabela, Himpilan ng Bumbero ng Lungsod, at Piitang Panlungsod ng Isabela. Inatas naman ni Bise-Alkalde Salliman sa kaniyang talumpati ang mga dumalo na pagnilayan ang mga aral ng kasaysayan upang mapagtanto kung tunay nga bang malaya ang lahat kung may mga kababayan tayong sadlak sa kahirapan at kawalang-katarungan. Samantala, sa kanyang mensahe, na binasa ni Konsehal Abner Rodriguez, pinaalala ni Punong Lungsod Turabin-Hataman ang diwa ng pagsaulog sa Araw ng Kalayaan: “Habang itinataas natin ang bandila ng Pilipinas at may kasamang pag-awit ng Lupang Hinirang, ipaalala natin na ang kalayaan ay hindi lamang isang patutunguhan kundi isang patuloy na paglalakbay. Ito ay nangangailangan ng ating matiyagang bantay, at tapat na pagsunod sa mga prinsipyong nagtatakda sa atin bilang isang bansa.” Ang temang “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. ECONOMIC PROGRESS FOR ALL: LGU-ISABELA CITY RAMPS UP MICROFINANCE, LIVELIHOOD INITIATIVES WITH ‘USAHA CENTER’

The City Government of Isabela, under the administration of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by PESO Manager Aradelria Belleng, in collaboration with USAID and The Asia Foundation, led the launch of the HAPISABIDA Usaha Center on June 5 at the City Hall Lobby. The launch commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Traveler’s Lounge, where the center is housed. In her opening message, DOLE ICFO Head Marlyn Anoos expressed her support for the initiative. The event featured a simulation of the HAPISABIDA USAHA Center Pathway program, the graduation of HAPISABIDA Program trainers, and a speech from graduate Jo Ida Grace Almazan. In her message, Mayor Turabin-Hataman emphasized the need for a supportive institution to guide job seekers in Isabela, highlighting the competitive job market where additional skills are essential beyond graduation. She praised PESO for listing job opportunities but stressed the importance of an organization dedicated to helping individuals confidently find jobs or start businesses, filling a crucial gap in job market awareness and preparedness. The launch also highlighted the introduction of the Waisabeleño Financial Planner. In her closing remarks, PESO Manager Belleng emphasized the importance of such initiatives for the community. Dalawang proyekto ang pinasinayaan ni Punong Lungsod Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman sa Barangay Makiri, Hunyo 6, kung saan siya ay sinamahan ni CGSO Eugene Strong, mga kawani ng Tanggapan ng Inhenyeriya at malugod na tinanggap ng Pamahalaang Pangbarangay ng Makiri sa pangunguna ni Punong Barangay Alkarim Hamad. Una rito ay ang proyekto ng patubig na nagkakahalaga ng P2,494,111.72 at inaasahang magbibigay ng malinis na pagkukunan ng tubig para sa mga residente ng nasabing barangay. Pangalawa naman ay ang Barangay Makiri Multipurpose Covered Court na may halagang P3,781,497.22, na pinaunlakan pa ng isang laro ng basketball na kinagiliwan ng mga nagsitipon para sa pasinaya. LGU-ISABELA CITY WELCOMES 2024 SGLG REG’L ASSESSMENT

| Led by Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, LGU-Isabela City submitted itself for another Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) evaluation by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Assessment Team (RAT), June 4. It can be recalled that Isabela City after several attempts was finally recognized and thus became in 2023, the only city SGLG awardee in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula. This year’s assessment proper began with an overview of the activity presented by DILG IX Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) Chief Dave Barrot, followed by document reviews and interviews per area with DILG regional assessors to include LGOO Ronnie Jade Biosada, LGOO Yvonne Abodano, Emma Albarico representing civil society organizations, and senior LGOO Mae Ann Tuden. The SGLG mandates LGUs to successfully navigate all 10 governance areas, which include: Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection; Peace and Order; Business Friendliness & Competitiveness; Environmental Protection; Tourism, Culture, and the Arts; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; and Youth Development The assessment process involved a review of documents, interviews and comprehensive on-site validations of the CDRRM-OPCEN, Youth Development Center, Baluno-Lantung Solid Waste Facility, Baluno Super Evacuation Center, and the Senior Citizens’ Lounge at Barangay Tabuk. At the culmination of the assessment, DILG IX Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division Chief Dave Barrot congratulated LGU-Isabela City for its preparedness and performance. In her closing message Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, expressed gratitude and pride in Isabela City’s achievements, she emphasized, “Ang SGLG is like a way of life, trinabaho namin ‘to. We don’t make this just for compliance, but as public servants masarap sa pakiramdam yung ginagawa natin. Yung we go beyond what is needed and must for our Isabeleños.” The Local Chief Executive then added: “Lahat kame nasa learning process pa and everyday maganda sa pakiramdam na you are learning and improving. Nakakahawa ang hard work, competency at yung makikita mo yung mga kasama mo, they go beyond expectations dahil ang gagaling… yun ang masasabi ko na good governance.” The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is a program that offers an award, incentive, and recognition to all local government units (LGUs). Philippine Pencak Silat (Philsilat) Sports Association, Inc. president Princess Jacel Kiram-Hasan met with Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, June 4, to discuss the athletes’ success at the recent Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletics Association Meet, specifically for the several pencak silat categories. The meeting also centered on the potential programs to guarantee ongoing assistance for the young people who are interested in the mentioned sport. In attendance during the meeting were SDO-Isabela City ASDS Dr. Ma. Laarni Villanueva, Division Sports Officer Dr. Arnel Hajan, CID Chief Henry Tura, BNHS Principal Lyna Basri, MAPEH Supervisor Fe Carna Jabarani, athletes, coaches, technical officials, and tournament director Edilbert Delica. LYDO Levinia Jarejolne and LEDIPO Chief Jaime Juanito Rivera were present. A demonstration of the sport was also presented by select athletes much to the amazement of those gathered. DILG Isabela City FOU

DILG Isabela City FOU, led by CLGOO Arnel Alvarez, facilitated the turn-over of the ADAC plaque and incentive fund, February 05, to Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman at Isabela City Hall. Isabela City received recognition as one of the Outstanding Regional ADAC Performance Awardees, achieving a High Functional rating in the 2022 ADAC Performance Audit. This acknowledgment was given for the city’s outstanding performance in the fight against illegal drugs, which is one of Mayor Turabin-Hataman’s core initiatives in the area of public security. Additionally, the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) of P2.3 million was turned over.
