The LINGKATAN LGBTQIA+ Organization, in partnership with the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit of the City Government of Isabela under the administration of Mayor Sitti Djalia Tufabin-Hataman, launched the second season of the HAPIsabela Volleyball League (HVL), reinforcing its commitment to inclusivity, sportsmanship, and community empowerment.
The opening program was held on May 5 at the Isabela City Civic Center in Binuangan, marking the start of the league which runs until June 6. Participating teams, supporters, and advocates of gender inclusivity gathered in a vibrant celebration of unity through sports.
The first day of competition immediately showcased the teams’ talent and competitive spirit as they battled on the court.
Game 1 set the tone for the tournament as HAPIsabela Gen Spikers secured a straight-sets victory against Xavier Madi Defenders, 25-18 and 25-19. Leading the charge was Mohammad Attan Bangsa, who delivered an impressive 9 points, all from attacks, highlighting his consistency and offensive strength.
In Game 2, Junreen Basilan Spikers-Alpha dominated BIC Crimson, also winning in straight sets, 25-19 and 25-14. Standout player Diether Saralani powered his team with 13 points, including 10 attacks and 3 service aces, demonstrating both power and precision on the court. (Words by SJ Asakil/Photos by M.
