The City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, proudly celebrates another milestone after being conferred its third Green Banner Seal of Compliance (GBSC) — a prestigious recognition awarded by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Regional Office IX to outstanding Local Government Units for exemplary performance in local nutrition program management.
Isabela City is one of only two cities in the Zamboanga Peninsula to receive the 2024 Green Banner Seal of Compliance, alongside Zamboanga City. The recognition highlights both cities’ sustained excellence and commitment to strengthening local nutrition governance and improving community well-being.
Representing Isabela City, City Nutrition Program Coordinator (CNPC) Nujaima Abduhraman personally received the 2024 GBSC on behalf of Mayor Turabin-Hataman and CNAO Jesielyn Puno during the 2025 Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC) held on November 4 in Zamboanga City.
Adding to this achievement, Mayor Turabin-Hataman was named the 2024 Most Supportive Local Chief Executive to Nutrition Program – City Category and received a Plaque of Appreciation as Local Nutrition Committee Chairperson for her leadership in strengthening the city’s nutrition programs and ensuring inclusive health interventions.
The city also received the award for 2024 Most Innovative Nutrition-Specific Intervention through its R9 Gardenator Pilot LGU Adopter program — a pioneering urban gardening initiative that promotes food security and community-based nutrition improvement.
Individual recognitions were likewise conferred on Isabela City’s nutrition focal persons:
• City Nutrition Action Officer Jesielyn Puno – 2024 Regional Outstanding City Nutrition Action Officer
• City Nutrition Program Coordinator Nujaima Abdurahman – 2024 Regional Outstanding City Nutrition Program Coordinator
• Councilor and Committee on Health and Social Services Chair Asan Al-Ameen Camlian – Merit of Support for his contributions to the city’s nutrition advocacy and program implementation.
The annual RNAC honors top-performing Local Government Units (LGUs) and Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) based on the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) conducted by the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET).
With this recognition, Isabela City continues to stand among the region’s top-performing LGUs in nutrition governance, further solidifying its reputation as a model city for health, nutrition, and social development in the Zamboanga Peninsula. (Contributed Report)
