The City Government of Isabela, under the administration of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, officially soft-launched Project ZERO: Waste, Chemical, and Hunger on April 28 at Kaumpurnah Elementary School. Organized by the City General Services Office (CGSO), headed by Eugene Strong, and the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, led by Mendry-Ann Lim, the event highlighted the city’s proactive approach to fostering community-based solutions for waste reduction and sustainable living.

Community Affairs Associate Anna Sahibil presented the project rationale, explaining how Project ZERO aligns with Isabela City’s broader vision for zero-waste management and grassroots sustainability programs. This was followed by a video message from City Information Officer and concurrent GAD Focal Lim.
A short audio-visual presentation titled “Trash to Treasure” was also showcased, demonstrating how proper solid waste management can create opportunities for both environmental conservation and economic development.
Representing Mayor Turabin-Hataman, City Administrator Pedrito Eisma delivered a message of support, emphasizing the importance of community-led action in achieving sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and local food security.
