In celebration of National Women’s Month, the City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, successfully concluded the Basic Computer Literacy Training for Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and the Orientation on the New Version of E-tool Operation Timbang Plus for 0-59 months old children on March 20.
The initiative was spearheaded by the City Population Management and Development Office (CPMDO) headed by CPMDO/CNAO Jesielyn Puno, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) – Basilan Provincial Office, led by Provincial ITO Michael Jolo.
Divided into two batches to ensure a more focused and hands-on learning experience, the training aimed to equip BNS with essential digital competencies. Participants learned basic computer operations, including word processing, spreadsheet management, and internet navigation, with the goal of strengthening their technical capacity as grassroots health workers.
The training also included an orientation on the updated E-tool Operation Timbang Plus, a vital tool used for monitoring and improving the nutritional status of children aged 0-59 months. The new version of the tool is expected to enhance data accuracy and efficiency in tracking malnutrition and other child health indicators within the barangays.
This initiative reflects the city’s strong commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment by providing capacity-building opportunities that allow women, especially those in community service roles, to actively contribute to Isabela City’s development agenda.
Aligned with the national Women’s Month theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas: Bagong Pilipinas,” this program reinforces the importance of preparing women to lead and excel in diverse sectors, including health and technology.
