Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, together with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) led by Nor-Aina Asmara and OSCA Head (Ret) COL Remegio Delos Reyes, personally visited, March 03, Maria Torres, a remarkable 100-year-old resident of Barangay Tabiawan, who was also celebrating her birthday.
The visit was made even more meaningful as the mayor personally handed over the P100,000 centenarian gift cheque, recognizing Torres’ milestone age and reaffirming the city’s dedication to honoring and supporting its senior citizens. The moment was filled with gratitude and joy, as the local government ensured that elderly residents like Torres receive not only the benefits, they deserve but also appreciation and recognition on their special day.
The incentive for centenarians is outlined in the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024, with allocation made possible through Ordinance No. 21-659. (Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
