MAYOR DADAH, CONG MUJIV ATTEND AS 280 FINISH TESDA-PESO COLLAB ON LIVELIHOOD TRAINING

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Zamboanga City-Isabela City District Office, in collaboration with the City Government of Isabela through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) under the leadership of PESO Manager Aradelria Belleng, hosted the culminating activity for the Gender and Development Livelihood and Technical Training Program. The event, held on December 2, celebrated the achievements of 280 graduates who completed various technical and vocational training courses.
During the event, TESDA Zamboanga City-Isabela City Provincial Director Omarkhayyam Dalagan reaffirmed TESDA’s commitment to making its scholarship programs accessible to all sectors in Isabela City. He encouraged residents to take advantage of available slots for the 2025 training programs, emphasizing TESDA’s dedication to delivering quality TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) services aimed at improving livelihoods and fostering economic growth.
In her inspiring message, Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman highlighted the importance of open dialogue between the city government and its residents. She emphasized that engaging directly with the community allows the government to better understand the challenges people face while also communicating its own limitations. The mayor celebrated the city’s booming tourism sector as a key opportunity for economic development, citing initiatives like the GoGo Caravan as crucial in promoting Isabela City’s attractions and empowering its residents. She further encouraged the audience to learn about the city’s budget processes to actively participate in ensuring the efficient and equitable use of public resources.
Deputy Minority Leader and Basilan Lone District Representative Mujiv Hataman underscored the significance of good governance in creating opportunities and driving progress. He reminded the participants that their training was not a privilege but a right, provided through responsible leadership dedicated to improving the lives of constituents. He urged the community to always support leaders who prioritize service and accountability, highlighting that a responsive and collaborative government can help citizens overcome challenges and build better futures.
The ceremony included the formal presentation of the 280 graduates by Senior TESD Specialist Engr. Abdulmubin Madisa, confirmed by Provincial Director Dalagan, followed by the distribution of certificates. Graduates hailed from diverse sectors, with training in courses such as Customer Service, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Organic Agriculture Production, Carpentry, Event Management, Cookery, ComputerSystem Servicing and Dressmaking. Trainees represented various organizations, including the Black Riders Association, Kasayangan Women Association of Barangay Tabuk, Lukbuton and KADIWA Farmer’s Association, and Kapatagan Grande Chicken Women Association with an active participation from the youth.
The event concluded with testimonials from trainees and trainers, reflecting on the transformative impact of the program. Basilan District 1 Board Member Ahmed Ibn Djaliv Hataman delivered the closing remarks, reiterating the local government’s unwavering support for initiatives that empower communities.
The occasion was also graced by distinguished guests, including Councilors James Abner Rodriguez, Yusop Abubakar, and Karel Annjaiza Sakkalahul, as well as DOLE Isabela City Field Office Head Marlyn Anoos, DICT Provincial Officer Michael Jolo, and other stakeholders.
