Despite the unexpected heavy rainfall, the GoGo (Good Governance) Isabela Eskwela made its second school caravan at Begang National High School (BENHS) which were actively participated by 100 senior high school students held at its Multipurpose Hall, on September 12. The GoGo Eskwela Caravan is part of the 124th Civil Service Anniversary of the City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman.
President Margarita Auxtero of Philippine Chamber and Commerce Industry – Isabela (PICC) and Vidalyn Tinay, Teacher III in BENHS served as the volunteer speakers for the GoGo Eskwela training session. The session mainly focused on the whole concept of Good Governance and highlights the roles of students as young Isabeleños in acieving good governance.
Gian Bhen Salihan, Grade 12 student expressed that through the GoGo Eskwela Caravan, their rights as a student and as a youth of Isabela City will be recognize and heard as they voice out the things they want to share in achieving good governance. He also shared his realization that being a leader is the toughest yet fulfilling job as its priority goal is to sustain the needs of his/her people.
Michelle Gonzales, another Grade 12 student also shared that as a leader on their school, the GoGo training will teach them the processes in developing their responsibilities to lead because she believes that, “with leadership, comes great responsibilities” to which she also expressed that the learnings they could acquire will be effective and efficient to achieve good governance not just in their school, but in Isabela City.
Meanwhile, Michael Roseller emphasized that in order to achieve good governance, the youth of Isabela City must excercise their rights to vote and choose the leader fit to lead its people in a better place where everyone will be treated equally.
Moreover, Farsia Sabdalun expressed that throughout the training session, they all learned the roles and responsibilities of government officials, especially the role of allocation and utilization of funds through various priority programs, projects and activities.
As the GoGo training came on its last part, other participants have expressed that they wish to maintain the city’s good development in infrastructure, to showcase more of its tourism sector, improvement of its economical stability, and to give equal opportunities for employment today, and in the near future.
The GoGo Isabela Eskwela Caravan was made possible in collaboration with the CHRMO personnel and with the full support of Begang National High School Principal Tita Tan. Also present in the GoGo session were Jham-Jham Kalbi, Yashrine Mariana Jammang, Barbette Jane Baclay, and April Winny Baclay as the GoGo secretariats including Elvic John Obdencia as the GoGo documenter.
Good Governance Isabela Caravan or GoGo Isabela is a component of the LGU-Isabela City’s Information Revolution program under the administration of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman. It is an overarching program composed of series of information dissemination activities, which empowers all Isabeleños to join, contribute, and be part of achieving a transparent, participatory, effective and efficient local government.
