The City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner on September 11 at the Fuego-Fuego Hall in Barangay Tabiawan. The event was a celebratory gathering to express gratitude for the ongoing progress and achievements of the local government, particularly in their pursuit of the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
During her address, Mayor Turabin-Hataman shared the joyous news that the recent audit conducted by National Validators from the DILG III resulted in a perfect score for Isabela City. She proudly announced that the validators found no issues or concerns across all ten governance areas, a testament to the city’s commitment to excellence in public service. The mayor expressed her hope and prayers for the city to secure its second SGLG award, highlighting the importance of this recognition as a reflection of the city’s dedication to good governance.
Mayor Turabin-Hataman reiterated that the city’s initiatives are driven by a genuine desire to serve the people and make a meaningful impact on their lives. She emphasized that their work goes beyond mere compliance with regulations; it is rooted in a deep commitment to improving the quality of life for every resident of Isabela City.
The evening was further enlivened by a series of cultural performances that showcased the rich heritage of the region. The Pasangen Cultural Dance Troupe captivated the audience with their vibrant presentations, including the “Vamos Paseo de Iloilo, which highlighted the festive spirit of the Visayas, and the Tausug Suite, featuring the elegant Pangalay dance. The troupe also performed the Yakan Suite, which included traditional dances such as Pansak Pegkawin, Tumahik, Pansak si Tennun, and “Pansak si Bangku,” each telling stories of the Yakan people’s customs and traditions.
Present at the event were key officials including DILG III Regional Director Atty. Anthony Nuyda and LGOO VI/ADC Aldwin Reyes from DILG III, as well as DILG IX Regional Director Paisal Abutazil, DILG Zamboanga City Director Ginagene Vano Uy, and DILG IX LGMED LGOO V Mae Ann Tuden. The gathering also saw the attendance of Basilan District 1 Board Member Ahmed Ibn Djaliv Hataman, barangay officials, security officials, religious leaders including Basilan Ulama Supreme Council president Dr. Aboulkhair Tarason and Bishop Leo Dalmao of the Prelature of Isabela de Basilan, civil society organizations, local business owners, city department heads led by City Administrator Pedrito Eisma, and representatives from various partner line agencies.
