With the aim of enhancing community awareness and participation of good governance practices, the Good Governance Isabela (GoGo Isabela Caravan) Speakers’ Orientation was held on June 18. As part of the city government’s Information Revolution (INFO REVO) Program, the initiative comprises a series of information dissemination activities covering pertinent topics such as Good Governance, Environment, Gender, Peace, Livelihood, Youth, and Social Media.
During the orientation, City Administrator Pedrito Eisma delivered insightful welcome remarks, shedding light on the essence of the GoGo Isabela Caravan.
Subsequently, Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman provided a brief overview of the systems underpinning the local government. The Local government Chief Executive highlighted that it is vital for Isabeleños to be informed how they are governed, most especially in the aspect of financial accountability.
Furthermore, Deputy Minority Leader and Basilan Lone District Mujiv Hataman offered clarity on the functions of Congress, addressing key areas such as automatic appropriations, interest payments on Philippine debts, Local Government Unit mandates, the Mandanas Ruling, and the transition of the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) to the National Tax Allotment (NTA).
The event concluded with closing remarks by Councilor Karel Annjaiza Sakkalahul, while present to lend their support were Councilor Yusop Abubakar, and Councilor Bimbo Epping.
A brainchild of Mayor Turabin-Hataman, the GoGo Isabela Caravan will make stops in all of the city’s 45 barangays and will engage a cross section of stakeholders and communities all in the name of nurturing a generation of Isabeleños fully aware of the role of the City Government in charting a happy and dignified life for all.
